ADHD Entrepreneur quality 1: PASSIONATE.

Being passionate about what you do is the most critical aspect of growing a successful business when you have ADHD.

If you’re not passionate about something, your ADHD brain will get bored and you will start hating what you’re doing.

It’s not emotionally or financially healthy to start and stop business ventures as it is costly and the startup phase takes a lot of energy.

That’s why before starting any business, ensure you truly love what you’ll be doing.

Ask yourself, “Will this get boring, once the excitement wears off in?” If you’re reluctant, then keep searching for something that can hold your attention.

Plus, if you find a business idea that you truly love, you’ll constantly feel motivated to do the next task that will move your business closer and closer to your business goals. And that will kill the number of times that you find yourself stuck in freeze mode on the couch.

Lastly, combine what you love and what people need. That is truly the recipe for a successful business.

ADHD Entrepreneur quality 2: ACCEPTING ADHD BRAIN.

A lot of beautiful things happen when you accept who you are and how your brain works.

If you have ADHD, accepting yourself and your shortcomings will help you figure out things a lot faster rather than blaming everything that goes wrong in your business to your ADHD.

Your ADHD is here to stay but your business won’t stay if you’re not there.

So accept that you don’t function like a typical neurological person and embrace your uniqueness.

Once you do that, you’ll be able to find solutions that are tailor made to your needs as an ADHD adult who owns a business.

And the best part is that you’ll be a successful ADHD entrepreneur. Wouldn’t that be nice?

Entrepreneur with ADHD quality 3: Motivating Support

There’s nothing harder than navigating a business when you have ADHD alone. 99% of the advice is not tailored to your needs and nobody can quite understand you well enough than another ADHD Entrepreneur. When you allow yourself to join a group of like minded people, you get valuable support, you get help when you’re overthinking, you get to learn from everyone else’s ADHD hacks , and you’re able to find quick solutions that will help you conquer problems in your business.

As an adult with ADHD (even if you are just thinking about starting your business) it is crucial to have a support system so that you can understand that some of the things you go through are not necessarily your fault but are because of your ADHD. And that will positively impact how you interact, show up in your business, and how you’re able to serve your clients.

ADHD Entrepreneur quality 4: A strong WHY

Entrepreneurship is hard and your ADHD brain gets bored quite easily. The combination of those two things without a strong why will make you unproductive and scrolling your life away.

That’s why you need a strong WHY that goes beyond making XYZ amount of money.

My strongest why is to help female entrepreneurs living with ADHD realize their potential without having to listen to the constant criticism from people who don’t even know what they’re experiencing.

Why?

Because that was me for the longest time.

I hated my ADHD. I hated myself. I thought I was a bad mom because I constantly compared myself to other super duper clean and tidy moms. And I literally hated how I was told not to call my ADHD, “my” ADHD. The ADHD label allowed me to drop all the other negative ones.

So when things get tough, I always go back to my “why” and it helps me to keep on going knowing there are women like me who need me in their lives to show them the greener side.

Now that you know my “why”, what is your “why”?

Entrepreneur with ADHD quality 5: ALLOWING CHANGE.

Remember the time when you were diagnosed with ADHD? It was like a huge stone was left on your shoulder, right?

That’s change. Change is difficult. It will make you uncomfortable but I can tell you that you only grow when you’re uncomfortable.

Once you’ve understood that you are your own kind of special, it’s time to start doing things differently:

  1. Know when you’re most productive.

  2. Educate yourself about ADHD.

  3. Adjust what you’re willing to accept.

You’ve got to run your business like a boss. By knowing your worth, your time and where to allocate your energy.

It will be a constant battle with your ADHD brain but in the end it will help you form new habits that will propel you to easily grow your business.

Entrepreneur with ADHD quality 6: SHOW UP AUTHENTICALLY

If anything, you should not be embarrassed about having ADHD. Don’t hide it like your medical practitioner(or mom) has told you to - talk about it.

Your audience and clients will know when you don’t show up authentically, when you hide pieces of your life, when you seem uncomfortable, and when you’re pretending. So just be you.

That’s the one unique thing that we all have - ourselves. I cannot be you and you cannot be me. I cannot speak like you and neither can you. We can share ideas but how you interpret it and how you execute it is different.

So don’t be afraid or shy about who you are - including your ADHD.

Plus, the one way you’ll be able to build a personal brand that can have an influence in other people’s lives is if you’re able to be you regardless of your circumstance.

So the next time you think of showing up in your business inauthentically, remember, people don’t buy from your business. They buy because of you.

People can’t relate to a “fake you”.

They relate to the real you. Be real and keep it weird

BAD ADHD QUALITIES YOU SHOULD DITCH TO GROW YOUR BIZ.

You see ADHD AS A VILLAIN.

ADHD is part of you and you are part of ADHD.

It is you and you cannot separate yourself from it.

What happens when you see your ADHD as a Villain.

When you see your ADHD as a villain, you mostly focus on the negatives of having ADHD. You’re always saying, “I keep forgetting what I wanted to do… Aaargh I hate my ADHD. “ That is not only making you counterproductive but it is also affecting your self-esteem, self-worth and reality.

Because you know that your ADHD won’t disappear, you’re constantly talking negatively about yourself and that is limiting your potential and reality.

So the next time you have such thoughts, redirect yourself to something more positive. “My ADHD doesn’t define me”. “I may get easily distracted but I can also now divert this negative thought to something else in 1,2,3…..SQUIRREL!”

Living in Comparison.

“Oh, I wish I was like Suzie the boss mom who has a great marriage and such a clean house.”

Oh my goodness, you are you. Suzie could never be you even if she wanted. The out of the box ideas that pop off your head everyday coupled with the hyper focus that you have, Suzie could never catch up.

If you don’t like your house being super messy, stop comparing, understand that it’s hard for you to keep up with it, and get help. If it is not possible, ask for help from people living in your house, clean up one area of your house every day, or keep one spot clean. Redesign your place to be more functional and not such a clutter magnet.

After all, that is you. And embracing yourself, while adding systems in place, is the best way to handle it.

You continue people pleasing.

As a business owner, you’ve got to learn to say no. People will adjust to your desires not the other way around. If a client challenges you on your prices and you immediately lower your prices, then you’ve got to learn to say no. That is the only way you’ll be able to scale your business to a 4, 5, 6 figure business. That way, you’ll be able to work with clients who align with your business goals, who pay you for your worth and who feel like the perfect fit.

And when I say perfect fit, I don’t necessarily mean a client who pays a lot of money. I mean a client who you can instantly connect with and you don’t feel any resistance or need to please. They know the value of your services, you understand their needs, and they respect your time.

Easieest way to make your business a life-sucking 9-5 for yourself, is by people pleasing.

Trust me, it’s no fun and will keep you from growing.

ALL IN ALL

Make your ADHD your businesses secret weapon.

Commit to sharpening the way you show up for your business and watch just how much you’ll bloom.

You owe it to yourself to see what’s possible.
